Meet “Radiating Chiyo”: This tiny fun & functional piece of art revolves around the muse’s eyes; where the never-ending rotating arms of time radiate out of her. She is highly textured and layered, complex and multidimensional just like all of us. Through the years, a constant theme in my work has been the exploration of time - permanence vs transition which are deeply tied to my intuitive and expressionistic artwork. Capturing emotional permanence, examining transient moments, the tension between what stays and what transforms, and ephemerality have been recurring themes in my work.
The name Chiyo (eternal time) is a soft, delicate name deeply rooted by the 3 inspiring cultural philosophies: kintsugi (scars/gold), momento mori (our time is transient), and wabi-sabi (the beauty of impermanence).
